GKB Ecodresser – Environmentally-friendly, sustainable topdressing
The GKB Ecodresser is a 3-in-1 maintenance machine, specially developed for the maintenance of natural grass sports surfaces and golf courses. The machine aerates and recycles the nutrient-rich material from the existing surface profile to improve drainage and play characteristics while reducing reliance on imported sands and dressing material – offering a topdressing solution that is both practical and cost effective.
How does the Ecodresser work?
1. The blades cut down into the profile, while minimising damage
2. Behind it the spring-loaded coulters intensively aerate the soil
3. Finally, the conveyor belt behind the rear roller then immediately throws the loosened top layer back onto the field. Optionally, the machine can be specified with a conveyor belt, to distribute the top layer in another desired location.
Sustainable Solutions
When matches are played on wet ground, the action can disturb the profile and cause the soil to go into suspension. As it settles, the heavier particles like sand, settle faster while lighter particles like silt and clay will settle more slowly – capping the sand underneath the top layer which, over time, can destabilise the surface and reduce its natural ability to drain. The blades of the Ecodresser cut through the ground to depths of up to 20cm/8”, breaking through the ‘crust’ and bringing the finer soil back to the surface.
The linear aeration action in itself brings multiple benefits to the surface, but for those venues with naturally sandy soils, the Ecodresser can hugely reduce the need for imported sports sand topdressing which is not only more environmentally-friendly, but better for the budget too! The nutrient-rich soil also provides an ideal tilth and seed bed for fresh sowing.
